Most conservatives make me sick!

OK, I am about to offend several people and to be honest I don't care because their attitude greatly offends me. I'm talking about conservatives. The majority of them have emblazoned on them the Mark of Cain. I say this because they do not feel they are their brother's keeper. Well guess what: you are!

There is an image floating around on Facebook. It says the following: "Don't like liberals? Fine, then give us back... our clean air and water standards; worker safety protections; the 40 hour work week; the Social Security program; the Civil Rights Movement; the equal rights movement; the free speech movement; discrimination protections; the school lunch program; birth control, rural electrification; organized labor, child-labor laws; the minimum wage; employee health care benefits; public assistance; Americans with Disabilities Act; fair housing legislation; the Freedom of Information Act; the Voting Rights Act; food and drug safety regulations; federally subsidized student loans; collective bargaining... and everything else we have done to put power back in the hands of the individual, and out of the hands of the corporate elite." Then it mentions a web site: http://www.oldamericancentury.org.

When I look at this list and see how much we've accomplished in this country, it makes me proud to be a Liberal. After posting this on my wall, one response I received, from a conservative I'm pretty sure, was "OK, it's a deal". I'm trying to figure out if he was being a smart ass or if he was serious. If he was serious, all I can say to him is, "are you fucking kidding? You think you can do without these programs? Do you live alone on a fucking island? If you believe all these programs should be eliminated, get the fuck out of this country and leave it to the people!"

Whenever I hear the word "Liberal" being used as a negative attribute, I recall the debates between Bob Dole and Bill Clinton. Dole must have used the word "Liberal" a hundred times (an exaggeration of course but it got ridiculous).

Modern conservatives remind me of Puritans. These "good" Christians came to America to escape religious persecution, only to end up burning women whom they thought were witches, and killing whatever indigenous people they found, merely because they were different. Real source of pride. NOT!

Another thing that seems to be a trend, also likely from the conservative lot, is the thread around Facebook that says that "Happy Holidays" is offensive, and choice comments such as, "if you don't like to hear 'Merry Christmas', leave, I will help you pack." Bullshit! This country was built on allowing diversity; I was born here damn it, I shouldn't have to leave! Not everyone celebrates Christmas. Some of us celebrate Chanukah, some Kwanzaa, some Yule and still others, nothing at all, so please show a little respect for other peoples' beliefs.

A number of related threads consist of people claiming that, because of the argument about multiple beliefs, they can no longer say "Merry Christmas" at all. That's not the point - lighten up people! Christianity ain't the only game in town! I don't wear a Star of David, so unless people know me, no one knows I'm Jewish. While it doesn't make me as upset as it used to, I personally don't like to hear it.

Daily rant - 11/27/11

We can't say Merry Christmas now we have to say Happy Holidays. We can't call it a Christmas tree, it's now called a Holiday tree? Because it might offend someone. If you don't like our "Customs" and it offends you so much then GO HOME. I will help you pack. Okay people, you are starting to piss me off big time! I've already responded to a few people about this but now it's time to blog about it. First and foremost, If you are an American, at some point, either 50 or 100 or 400 years ago, unless you're native American, your ancestors were immigrants. There is a good chance no one told them to "Go back where you came from", although admittedly, that xenophobia has existed for too many years.

When you make this ridiculous statement above, who exactly are you talking to? Illegal Aliens? OK, maybe it's a legit complaint. Some say they take away our jobs but guess what, it's the greedy employers who hire them at sub standard wage. Are you talking to people who are Pagan, Muslim, Buddhist or Jewish? Guess what, none of them celebrate Christmas or have a Christmas tree. Pagans call it Yule and they have a tree - the very concept others call a "Christmas tree."

I'm Jewish, and it no longer bothers me when people say Merry Christmas to me. I politely tell them, thank you but it's not my holiday. I figure, it's said in the spirit of the holiday and that's fine. I don't have a holiday tree, or what most people call a Christmas tree, and I won't call it a Chanukah bush. I personally have not adopted the pagan tradition of having an evergreen in their home around the time of the Winter Solstice.

I go around town to see the holiday lights because they are quite beautiful. If they have a Christian message, so what? Everyone has a right in this country to believe what they want. I listen to Christmas music because it's good music. Not all types of course, I mean "Adeste Fideles", "The First Noel", "Silent Night" and "Do You Hear What I Hear" have a clear Christian message and that's simply not me. However, I listen to the festive music and the rock music because it celebrates the holiday. Although, to be honest (as if I wouldn't be anyway) I wish that "peace On Earth" and "Goodwill To Humankind" was an everyday thing, not just around the end of December.

The reality is, I believe this is targeted at Muslim Extremists, who are trying to Islamify the US in addition to the rest of the world. They simply don't get it. The US is the great melting pot, made up of many different people and many different beliefs. This extremism shit must end, and now.

OK, I'm sufficiently riled up!

OK people, enough is too much! I have not blogged for awhile but I feel the need to write about this, considering the shit I have been reading.

I am so so sick and tired of all these holier-than-thou assholes (you know who you are) who constantly quote those oh so famous chapters/verses in Leviticus 18:6 and 20:13 in regard to their continued attack (yes I said "attack" on the LGBT community. These have to be the two most misinterpreted verses in the bible. It is not about homosexuality people, it is about Pagan acts! While some LGBT folks are Pagan, these verses refer to ritual sex (i.e. sex as part of a Pagan religious rite), not sex in a normal, committed relationship.

Members of the LGBT simply want to be allowed to live spiritually good lives, regardless of their faith. They hurt no one, but are continuously attacked, sometimes physically, by these damned holy-rollers (think Westboro Baptist Church).

On another note, but still related to misinterpretation is the chapter and verse from Genesis stating that Eve came from Adam's rib. It was not his rib, it was his side! King James interpreted it as rib because he hated women. Saying it was from his side meant she was an equal part of him, yet separate.

As Yoda in Star Wars says, "fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering". The time for these has long ended. Any religion who does not believe G*D is about love, especially universal love, does not belong in this world.

OK people, I really need to vent now. I was being bullied and harassed by someone I only know On Line and via a Yahoo group I belong to. All of a sudden, out of nowhere, this guy blindsides me with the nastiest, vitriolic, negative commentary as ever has been encountered by a person, let alone Vanessa and I. It was without any doubt in anyone's mind, pure and unadulterated hate speak. Rather than describing it, why don't I just copy and post the entire exchange? As for green teeth, where did you see pictures of me with green teeth, or anything even close to that? The real joke around here is you. My wife and I EARNED EVERY PENNY we get from the government. Disability is like early retirement, it is based on work we did in our lifetimes. We do not use food banks/pantries anymore - not for at least a year now. I felt bad enough needing them; I don't need commentary from a hateful, mean spirited person who is so devoid of God and seems to get his instructions on hurting people from Satan himself. You sit on your ass and spread this vitriol for your own amusement. I suggest you spend the rest of your life finding God and making amends to all you have hurt, because he sure as hell will not forgive you until you do, and you know that perfectly well.
